Amber creates “mobility hubs” with electric cars that people at Amber client companies can use and share. These hubs are located on client company terrains or business parks, where employees can use the cars for external appointments. Thanks to our artificial intelligence-powered software and intelligent fleet management system, we can guarantee that employees will always have a car available for them when they need it, with enough range to get them to their destination.
Via the Amber app, you can request a car manually or by connecting your calendar. The app assigns you a car at your nearest hub and shows you where to find it. When you get to your car, you can unlock it using the app and drive off. Arrived at your destination? There’s no need to return the car to the same hub, which gives you the freedom to use a different transportation method for the return trip.

You can also save time compared with using public transportation. Amber makes sure that there will always be a car available for you when you need it, via the Amber app. You can request a car, locate it, and lock and unlock it using the app. The service is also flexible: There’s no need to return the car to the same hub, which allows you the freedom of using a different transportation method for the return trip.

Amber 100% guarantees you will have a car available for you when you need it, with enough charge to get you where you need to go. If not, we order you a taxi (although we haven’t needed one yet!).
Currently, you can only use Amber if your employer has signed a contract with us agreeing to cover or reimburse the costs for business-related trips.

Yes, you can also drive Amber outside working hours or for private trips. However, keep in mind that your employer may not cover or reimburse private trips.
The Amber help desk is available 24/7, ready to assist you with any problems or questions you run into. We also offer full roadside assistance through our leasing partner Athlon, so can drive worry-free.
Despite the fact that our BMW i3’s have a real-life battery range between 200 and 240 kilometers (depending on the driving style), sometimes electric car users can become stressed about the possibility of running out of battery on the road. Luckily, the electric car infrastructure in the Netherlands is well-developed. As of 2017, there are over 27,000 electric car charging stations, and more than 600 of those are fast charging stations (what defines “fast charging”?). Amber is working in partnership with FastNed, the largest (and fast-growing) fast charging network in the Netherlands to provide free charging for Amber users in under half an hour. If you still end up on the highway without battery, our roadside assistance service will always help you.
Any fines received while using Amber (such as speeding tickets) are the responsibility of the user. In case of damage, users pay a deductible of €135 per damage incident, provided that the users report the damage to us directly. If the user does not report the damage, he or she will have to pay a maximum fine of €250. Via the Amber app, you can request a car manually or by connecting your calendar.
